Job Description – Business Development – Corporate Finance (South Africa Office)

Reports to: Head of Deal Advisory, Kenya Rock Advisors

Role Purpose:

To spearhead Rock Advisors’ business growth in Southern Africa by identifying high value opportunities, strategic partnerships, and investment prospects, positioning South Africa as a key gateway for expanding Rock Advisors’ Deal Advisory services into East Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

1.      Drive the pursuit for viable business opportunities across corporate, investment, and advisory segments within South Africa and the wider SADC region.

2.      Support the Deal Advisory team in executing the firm’s regional growth strategy and developing tailored entry approaches for target sectors.

3.      Conduct in-depth market research to uncover emerging trends, potential clients, and cross-border opportunities linking South and East Africa.

4.      Provide strategic insights on target markets, client segmentation, and differentiated value propositions to strengthen Rock Advisors’ competitive edge.

5.      Build  potential pipeline, partnerships and collaborations to broaden the firm’s market reach and influence.

6.      Build and nurture strong relationships with key clients, alliance partners, and institutional stakeholders.

7.      Contribute to the creation of thought leadership content articles, whitepapers, and case studies,showcasing Rock Advisors as a bridge between Southern and East African markets.

8.      Track industry developments, economic shifts, and regulatory changes relevant to deal-making and advisory work in the region.

9.      Liaise closely with the Kenya headquarters to ensure seamless coordination and visibility of market intelligence and business leads.

10.  Perform other related duties as assigned.

Academic / Professional Qualifications & Experience:

1.      Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field.

2.      Experience in financial advisory, consulting, or business development, with exposure to cross-border markets preferred.

3.      Strong research, networking, and deal-sourcing skills with a passion for spotting emerging opportunities.
