CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN/ ENGINEER

Job Description

  • Assist the Camp manager in ensuring that all assigned in-house construction projects are implemented, scheduled, and completed utilizing safe, structurally sound means and methods while meeting company standards, on a given deadline.
  • Serve as an active member of the Construction Team by performing work in the construction: repair, replacement, patching, remodeling, alteration, and finishing of building structures, facilities, and exterior pavement, develop plans or layouts for the projects and/or following blueprints, sketches, or schematics as well as written and verbal instructions.
  • Supervise the work of highly skilled construction trades staff (both full-time and part-time) in the construction, repair, replacement, patching, remodeling, alteration, and finishing of building structures, facilities, furnishings, and exterior pavement.
  • Assist with documenting the project work including time and materials and providing periodic status reports to the Camp Manager and CEO regarding the status of work projects, material consumed, and man-hours utilized.
  • Assure that assigned trades personnel have the equipment and supplies necessary to perform their work, estimate future material usage, requisition those supplies and equipment, distribute supplies/materials and equipment as required, and advise the Camp Manager regarding potential shortages, recommended replacement items, or related equipment needs.
  • Provide technical assistance in the purchase of new or replacement shop tools and equipment by evaluating available construction tools and equipment in order to standardize them.
  • Promote preventive maintenance as a strategy in maintaining construction tools and equipment by assisting in the development and monitoring of preventive maintenance programs, and perform and/or directing periodic cleaning and servicing of tools and test equipment.
  • Assist the Camp Manager in working with Planning, Design & Construction to construct projects in strict accordance with construction plans, maintain documentation of project communication, prepare documentation of as-built conditions for records, and assist the Camp Manager in ensuring cooperation and coordination with other areas and departments of the company
  • Reduce the likelihood for liability regarding the company’s compliance with government regulations by complying with and enforcing policies, laws, and regulations governing environmental protection, safety, hazardous waste disposal and the use of chemical substances and materials.
  • Contributes to a safe accident-free work environment, making on-the-spot corrections of unsafe work activities, investigating on-the-job accidents or injuries and reporting the incidents to supervisors, and following standard safety precautions during work.
  • Assists the Camp Manager in the preparation of estimates for construction costs associated with in-house construction projects and provides necessary input for the development of working drawings, details, and project work.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
JOB REQUIREMENT:

  • Related work experience as a Construction Foreman or Engineer in these project specialties: Building, Eletrical, Mechanic, Highway or Heavy
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Management
